This podcast is a great example of the ability of specialists to speak to a broader audience. I have found so many of the episodes, engaging and interesting, walking away with a more robust and nuanced view of the issues and topics. The host is immensely knowledgeable.

I’ve listened to almost every episode of this podcast, and I always learn something new and useful about illnesses whose names are casually thrown about by people. For instance, I realized my understanding of body dysmorphia was way off. And it was fascinating to learn about Bi-polar Disorder and how it differs from depression, how treatment differs between the two, and that new treatments are in development. The episodes about Borderline Personality Disorder were incredibly compassionate and insightful. If you or someone you know is suffering from a mental health issue, while this podcast is no substitute for getting professional help, it can help to point one in the right direction or give greater understanding about the mysteries of the brain. The host is great at summing up difficult findings and setting a context for each conversation. He’s got a very calm vibe.
