Love, love, love the banter. Lauren is a breath of fresh air in the predominantly male science podcast space. Most anticipated podcast every week .
This is my new favorite podcast! Lauren and Trex have great chemistry. I’m so thankful that Lauren joined the team. I’ve been a subscriber to MASS since it started and enjoy the podcast. However this more laid back style addressing the more ridiculous headlines makes for a great listen.
The first episode of this spin off show from Iron Culture has my hopeful and looking forward to more episodes. The first episode dives into alcohol research trying to balance both sides. As an older adult who gave up my wine drinking habits in my early 70s, I appreciated the conversation about research and alcohol moats on health. The hosts seemed to come to the conclusion that light social drinking was ok but I think they overlook the additive risks of alcohol, its impacts on sleep and recovery that led me to conclude I needed to stop completely. Now after two years the cravings are gone and I can be social drinking sparkly water with my friends who drink. I look forward to future episodes but five stars for the first one!
Fun hosts, lots of personality. Love the format - more headline reviews, vs. Eric & Co. deep dives. Cheeze Whiz challenge and derivation of Florida Man says it all.
I was really looking forward to this podcast and love the concept. The alcohol episode was ridiculous. They glossed over so many of the safety and health risks. The only good point was at the end when they cautioned about health optimization having some negative consequences in the big picture. What about cancer risks? Accidents? Brain function? Sleep issues? Addiction? The percentage of people who go through life having one glass of wine or beer every few days is pretty small. I was hoping for actual evidence debunking some of the radical claims out there. I got nothing except for their opinion that alcohol poses a “negligible risk” on health. Please do better.
