This is the "You Are A Lot" (an ADHD/AuDHD podcast) and I'm your host, Jen Kirkman. Has anyone ever said to you, "Um, you're kind of a lot?" If they have this podcast is your new favorite show. Welcome to You Are a Lot in ADHD, AuDHD podcast. I'm your host Jen Kirkman. On this show, I talk about my personal experience of my later in-life diagnosis as an AuDHD human. That is ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I discuss the latest research and I aim to create an affirming lesson from neurodivergent people, helping us all to feel less confused, more connected, and as a result, fully validated.

Prompted to review (1st time EVER 🤯) after hearing the CNS-regulation with polyvagal theory ep. SO well-researched and presented. Almost every episode has exactly what I want to learn (highly “nutritious” and very low fluff/wasted time rambling “empty calories”). SO educational and RELEVANT/relatable ( appreciated as an irreverent 48 y.o. single child-free woman diagnosed 28 yrs ago with a raging case of ADHD and now suspected ASD!! ) Impressive quality! I’m SO GRATEFUL!!! Hope to contribute financially someday soon.
I started listening to this podcast a few weeks ago and change is starting slowly. Jen makes me feel normal. The best advice (so far) has been creating routine. Which I have started, in small steps and it has been very helpful. I am listening and getting tips and tricks to help me in my day to day, but not feeling overwhelmed, which is key. Thank you for keeping it real and being open about the struggles. I started talking to my friends and my son about some of the challenges and they face some of the same things. It’s nice to know I am not alone.
Jen’s podcasts are completely relatable to me in addition to being educational and informative. She weaves solid research with personal experience and the perspective of a neurodivergent person navigating through life. Every episode has been like listening to my own experience and having it all make sense. I was recently diagnosed with AuDHD and am fully embracing this community to learn and share more about myself and all its awesomeness and challenges. Jen’s podcast is a large part of that. Thank you Jen for helping to give a voice to a relatively silent but beautiful population walking in your shoes, not only speaking to them, but to those who may be around them wanting to listen in.
This self clarity journey is lonely and rough, I don’t really have anyone to talk to who actually gets it, certainly no one who is on the same journey. This podcast is the closest thing I’ve found to a satisfying conversation with a friend on the topic. I’m learning to sit with how messy this process is, despite the urge to burn it all down, run away, and start a new identity. This is a lot. We are a lot. And as Jen says, that’s okay.
