Therapy and Theology

by Lysa TerKeurst

Have you ever looked at a situation you’re facing in utter disbelief and thought, "How will I ever get over this?" Lysa TerKeurst understands. After years of heartbreak and emotional trauma, she realized it’s not about just getting over hard circumstances but learning how to work through what she has walked through. Now, she wants to help you do the same. That’s why Lysa teamed up with her personal, licensed professional counselor, Jim Cress, alongside the Director of Theological Research at Proverbs 31 Ministries, Dr. Joel Muddamalle, to bring you "Therapy & Theology." While Lysa, Jim and Joel do tackle some really hard topics, you’ll soon find they're just three friends having a great conversation and learning from each other along the way.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Love this channel where you get wonderful guests, a wonderful therapist, and a wonderful theologian… all tied up in a bow with Lysa. This is valuable! I use what I learned!

vonjulie · Apr 2026

This podcast is so important and I will be recommending it to everyone I care about! Clear, and loving communication at its best!

Mamma Banfi · Feb 2026

I am loving this so much! The topics are relevant and they don’t sit on the surface, but dig deeper for learning, growth and positive change if you’re willing to apply the wisdom.

LauraT1Mom · Jan 2026

I love this show, how it helps me to put words to my experiences in tangible ways. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your stories, teaching us the Word, and digging deeper into the root causes of our feelings and behaviors so we can work on recognizing and changing unhealthy patterns in life!

faithjaclyn · Nov 2025

I’ve enjoyed some of the podcast, but have some deep concerns. A simple google search shows that Jim Cress charges about 8k for a 3 day intensive counseling program. I think that is an absolutely disgusting and absurd amount to charge. I also find it inappropriate for a therapist and former client to start a podcast together. It comes across as money hungry and it doesn’t look good or professional.
