Wire Talk with Karen Stubbs

I have been listening to Karen’s podcasts for the last 8 years…when I had my first baby. I felt so alone, and did not grow up in a Christian household. Karen always has felt like a second mom to me, someone I could listen to for Biblical parenting advice. God has placed her here for hope for mommas who grew up not having a momma like Karen, hope that it is possible to be a loving, caring mom and that your children will some day be your friend! And want to be around you. This podcast took a huge personal spin when Emily became the host for Karen. As a mom of three daughters, I often find myself emotional listening to their bond and relationship. Something I wish I had with my mom, but feel so hopeful I can have someday with my own daughters. 100% recommend this podcast.

I’m so thankful for this podcast and wish I knew about it when my kids were younger. I have 2 teens and one in college. I’m currently so grateful for the series on parenting from Proverbs. Thank you, Karen for telling the truth about disciplining our children. I see many moms discarding the truths of scripture for other worldly ideas. They don’t work! Keep on keeping on!

I have been listening to Wire Talk for ELEVEN years!! It is just the best and really the only Christian parenting podcast I listen to. Along with God’s word, it has carried me through some really difficult seasons with my three kids (now all teens and tweens) and my marriage. Karen offers so much parenting wisdom through a biblical lens. I just love it and am so grateful for this ministry. Thank you!!!

I was introduced to Karen’s podcast through a mom’s group after having my 1st child 3.5 years ago. Now 2 more kids later I am an AVID listener and on my second run through of all the episodes. I am so thankful that God put this ministry on Karen’s heart and for this podcast. This has helped me to learn about myself, motherhood, marriage, children, how to be a friend, the list goes on and on. Karen and her God given wisdom has been such an instrumental part of my motherhood journey and such a blessing to my family and to the friends I have shared it with. I had the privilege of meeting Karen at this past Soar. It was a treat to hear her live and get to meet such an amazing woman in person and to experience first hand all that her ministry has to offer. Karen truly has a heart for moms. I recommend this podcast to all moms out there. Karen is practical, real and will help you in at least one area of your life thanks to her life experience and the wisdom and love of God. Karen, I do thank God for you and what He placed on your heart. Keep it up <3

Long time Christian, mom of 3, and this podcast is wreaking with generational privilege of happily married couples. I wanted to listen to learn but it’s a no. It would be tolerable to learn from if the duo would acknowledge the affect of chronic family trauma, which has decimated so many families, probably many within a mile of their recording location. Producers, remind your listeners that not all of us have had such a soft start and righteous path to follow: some believers are cycle breakers, healing ourselves and fighting so hard to NOT repeat the damaging patterns given to us. The house of eggshells we came home to, and constant fear. If you’re a listener in that category, this podcast may not a safe place to land. I hope their team may see this comment. Please take time to learn about cPTSD, so this family can acknowledge the vast privilege they walk in from the generation of Christ-followers (and safe, regulated people who were imperfect, yes, but not addicts, abusers, or narcissistic manipulators, but generally left them with fond memories, sage advice and good hugs). Those families have you mentors, interpersonal skills, social resources and self-regulation and secure attachment. The Bible acknowledges the sin of one will affect their children for generations! How can you counsel women and families without touching that stone of reality in each episode? A holy familial inheritance is one many lack entirely, so these stories are not only surreal, but wholly painful to witness how blind a multitude of Christians are to their own privilege. You reap from fields you did not sew; acknowledge the difference it would make - in every episode - had you been instead forced to build your family from a childhood of shame, abuse, poverty, and worse. Cycle breakers have siblings who are estranged, they go through child rearing in the tribe they create or none at all. Your listeners of peaceful childhoods need to hear experts give witness and acknowledgment to the battle others have suffered, and to understand a lack of social skill in a neighbor may not be a spiritual shortcoming or moral failure, but rather a characteristic of vast difference in childhood experiences.
