I have found a lot of help and wisdom in The Calm Parenting podcast and this one has been really great. Both of my boys have signs of PDA and I’ve been discouraged by the common advice out there- so I love hearing Kirk’s take on it and a different framework beyond just reducing demands and giving in to requests. Thankful for his insight!

This podcast (and the calm parenting podcast) has honestly been a God send and I don’t say that in a light way. I’ve struggled for so long to find some relatable help specifically for my 3rd child. Kirk nails it on the head everytime and I thank the Lord that these podcasts were sent my way. I’m looking forward to more PDA podcast episodes.

This podcast is an answered prayer as well as the Calm Parenting podcast. I knew my son was strong willed but after hearing some of the PDA episodes, his behavior makes more sense. I want him to feel loved and understood and this podcast is providing the insight and tools to support me as I parent him.

Although I find your podcast helpful at times, I very much disliked your discussion of the loose tooth issue. I don’t think you’re engaging with Casey (AP Parents) in good faith. She is not saying that it’s okay for kids to call their parents mean names; there’s a big difference between choosing not to verbally correct a child when they lash out during dysregulation and “approving” of that lashing out behavior. Our kids know when they say something that isn’t ok—they don’t need us to scold them for every misstep, particularly not when they are already outside their window of tolerance. You’re not teaching a child anything in those moments by correcting them. So, you can pick your battles and be the adult in the situation.
I don’t think AP parents is perfect, but if you’re going to criticize them, you should engage with what they’re actually saying, not a straw man.
