I originally started listening because Sarah’s reels kept popping up on my feed. At first, I thought she was making some valid points that a lot of people probably think but aren’t always willing to say out loud. I’ve listened to several episodes over the past month, and the more I’ve listened, the more concerned I’ve become. One of my biggest issues is the inconsistency in the way Christianity is discussed. Sarah often says she can’t tell men how to be men because she’s never been a man, which is fair. But if you’re going to speak from a Christian perspective, there should still be some level of accountability for everyone. Hearing someone say they didn’t realize pornography was anti-Christian was honestly surprising to me. I also struggle with the dynamic of the male perspective on the show. A lot of the commentary feels very focused on sex rather than healthy relationships. Another thing that stands out to me is the constant messaging that women should simply follow the path that she did. As someone who is engaged in my mid-twenties, I don’t think everyone’s goals or timelines are the same. Sarah found her partner later in life, and that’s completely fine, but many people hope to find their life partner earlier. Neither approach is inherently better. I understand that some of this content is meant to be entertaining, and I know she often says she’s speaking to the majority, not the exception. But some of the comments about women can come across as unnecessarily harsh and, at times, offensive. Life is complicated, and many people end up in difficult situations that are completely outside of their control. I’m not trying to attack her. I just think there needs to be more nuance, more compassion, and a little more self-reflection, especially when the criticism is directed almost entirely at women.
I could listen to her all day… and I do! 😂 I love the way she articulates herself and puts things into a perspective most people have never thought about; unapologetically. She’s become an audible aunty, mentor, and inspiration for me. I love you down Aunty Sarah!
I listed to your last show and was blown away any your description about a person’s integrity. How we know we are not operating in the way we, as an individual, are suppose to be acting. I had to pause and just absorb what was being said. I appreciate your honesty about yourself and look forward to going through past shows and new ones. 🥰
