Love listening to this podcast with my 7-year old daughter. I think the idea of resilience in children has taken a big hit in recent years and you both embody it so well with your own stories and the ones you share from others. Resilience sometimes looks like DNFs, but then learning from your mistakes and coming back smarter, healthier and even more determined. Side note, my daughter and I hike a lot in northeast PA and her favorite thing to do is yell “Tara Dower!!” and break into a dead sprint up or down particularly steep sections while I unhelpfully yell “be careful!” from behind her.
You can tell Arlee and Tara are genuinely having so much fun every episode and it’s SO infectious. Lots of good energy whether you’re cruising singletrack or stuck at work dreaming of mountain passes.
I started listening to this podcast with about 2 months of training for my 3rd road marathon. I’m someone who’s struggled with fueling during runs, couldn’t burp until recently, and has a vom phobia. DNF diaries inspired me to face my fears and puke my guts out on my recent 18 mile training run when the fueling didn’t go according to plan. I felt WAY better after my puke and rally, and credit Arlee and Tara with instilling this casual confidence in me. THANK YOU for making me laugh out loud on the road and the trails (and sometimes just from my bed).
In a world of being the fastest, I ADORE that there is a podcast that highlights dreaming big and giving it the old college try. Arlee and Tara are fantastic, I want to be friends with them IRL, they have me laughing for their entire show. The world is a brighter place bc of this corner of the internet!
