The Psychology of Depression and Anxiety - Dr. Scott Eilers

by Scott Eilers

There are people who understand depression and anxiety on a personal level and there are people who understand depression and anxiety on a medical level. There are relatively few people who understand both, and I’m one of them. As a clinical psychologist I have a doctorate degree and thousands of hours of professional experience providing treatment for mood and anxiety disorders. I also have 39 years of personal experience managing mood and anxiety disorders as I myself deal with these struggles. This podcast is my attempt to synthesize my personal knowledge with my professional knowledge.

As a licensed clinical social worker, I can tell you this podcast is a true GEM! A ton of little nuggets of truth, information and knowledge. This guy knows what he’s talking about! What I like most about his podcast is that he is down to earth and he is genuine. For me, as a busy professional who doesn’t have 2 hours to listen to a podcast sometimes, he gives you the information direct without lots of fillers. I’m telling you… You want a podcast other professionals listen to!!!

I’ve only listened to two short episodes and yet I know enough to write that title and I know I want to hear more. I loved the format of the three questions to ask your therapist and the six types of people that are loosing their battle with depression. A discussion doesn’t have to be long and complicated to be helpful and impactful, it just has to be true and enlightening and portable. I’m hooked. Thank you Scott.

ChicNY · Dec 2024

I just went back and listened to the episode on 2/5/23. Recently, in the past couple of months I have been told by my therapist that she just doesn’t know what else there is to try, that we’ve tried just about everything. The moment she said that, nothing else she said even remotely connected with me. It killed me. It still does kill me inside thinking about it. Listening to this podcast and specifically the episode on 2/6/23 I think is a huge turning point for me. There is hope. I haven’t tried everything. Today I just changed therapist and will see how it goes. Thank you Dr. Scott
