What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I’ve been listening since their beginning and I’m so grateful for their work. However, too many ads! Not to mention that it can be contradictory to empower women and their health only to turn around and sell over-promising and expensive supplements or wellness products.

My only regret is that, I didn’t find and listen to this podcast sooner. Women’s health, feels like island - these voices within these episodes, the discussions and experiences shared, make me feel like I’m not alone or hysterical. I’m in my 30s, and have been searching for answers for years. Though I wish I had more answers for myself in this moment, this podcast has ignited my will once more to keep learning about what’s happening in my body and how to navigate the process of finding answers. I’m one woman, but this program provides a voice and guidance to all women.

I love the hosts, and what they are providing for the audience! The content is golden, and the guests are also top-notch. My big gripe, however, is that the show has very poor audio quality. It seems like it is turned all the way down, compared to every other podcast I listen to. Even when I crank up the volume, it still sounds like people are talking on the other side of a room, very far away. Furthermore, in moments where the hosts or guests get animated or share laughter, it nearly blows my eardrums out! This seems to be the case no matter what sort of stereo system or headphones I am listening on. I do not know enough audio production to say whether this is simply a volume problem, a mixing problem, or something else, but please fix this! Having better audio quality would make listening to this show so much more enjoyable!

As a registered dietitian focusing on women’s health. I love the contents and information that I can share with my clients. However, it would be appreciated if you can call us registered dietitian not just a “nutritionist “. There is a difference and unfortunately most people don’t know. A registered dietitian has to have a master’s degree and passed the board exam. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. We worked hard to earn the degree and it should be recognized.

As a urologist myself, I listened to the most recent episode about UTI prevention and it was beyond lacking to the point of being negligible. The doctor being interviewed was clearly not a urologist (which she stated at the end of the episode), and she gave the advice that if women are getting UTIs after intercourse that is solved by taking one dose of an antibiotic after intercourse every time. This hasn’t been the standard of care for YEARS, and is a great way to create antibiotic resistance and UTI superbugs. Instead, we prescribe Hiprex (also available in generic form) as a preventative taken daily and it is proven to be just as effective as taking an antibiotic (while not being an antibiotic and causing any resistance). It is well tolerated will little to no side effects. The fact that she didn’t mention this preventative medication once is a disservice to all women listening to this podcast and experiencing recurrent UTI. Get a double board certified Uro-Gyn physician on next time and do better; women deserve better information.

I would say listen with caution, except that on this show the advertorial approach buries or wholly excludes important information about the health topics they are supposed to be addressing, so much so that it’s not worth your time. For example, on the recent hair loss episode featuring a rep from Nutrafol, not once did they mention minoxidil, the gold standard treatment. I don’t even use minoxidil myself as the side-effects are not desirable for me, but as someone with hair loss if I were coming to the topic for the first time, this podcast would guide me to spending hundreds on a supplement that may or may not be efficacious, while not even mentioning a clinically-proven drug that is many times less expensive. It’s the kind of approach I’m used to seeing in beauty media, but the fact that it’s applied on a program that’s supposed to be addressing our health is so much more sinister. (And the fact that they dress it up by saying they support female-owned brands is just the cherry on top. If I’m lining someone’s pockets trying to find a cure for my maladies, I don’t care who they are, I’m still probably paying too much for something that might not even work!)
