Although this podcast is designed for a medical audience, listening has proved intensely healing for me: a law student with no medical training. Your podcast has helped me better understand the biological underpinnings of disorders I’ve wrestled with my whole life and the mechanism through which therapies and other changes may help. Each week, I appreciate hearing the “curtain” peeled back on what otherwise feels like inaccessible medical. I love to hear how providers think and learn the latest in psychiatric research. I come away feeling like I more deeply understand myself, maybe with a bit less shame and blame stemming from my own personal struggles. Understanding the theoretical underpinnings of different drugs and therapies and the “why factor” (on this point the episode on evolution and depression was fascinating) has been illuminating (and made me wonder if I should have gone into medicine). In a world where mental illness is isolating and endowed with stigma, it feels uplifting to know that bright and compassionate providers exist who are doing the important, hard work of providing quality care—across cultural lines—and de-stigmatizing mental illness in the process.
Strong material, great for board prep and plenty of clinical pearls. Enjoy the Interventional content, which is lacking in other podcasts.
The hosts do a fantastic job explaining difficult concepts in a digestible way. What makes this podcast unique is their episodes on single medications and clear, concise, organized delivery. They also incorporate longer episodes from time to time with renowned guests, which makes for a great balance.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner student, I find The podcast to be an incredibly valuable resource. The podcast does an excellent job of breaking down complex psychiatric topics and medications in a way that is clear, engaging, and easy to follow. Thank you gentlemen, keep up the good work Thais
