This podcast has made such a difference in my running! I feel like I am becoming a better runner listening. I also think the host has a very calming, relaxing voice! Thank you for taking the time to do the podcast!
So glad I found this show! Tons of great info and some great perspectives on how to improve as an all around runner. I’ve been a marathon runner since 2009 and this show has gotten me excited to train for some fast 5ks as well!
I can’t remember what episode I listened to first but I didn’t think I would listen to many more (I probably just picked the wrong first one). However I gave it another chance and quickly found myself binging through the back catalog and really enjoy it. It did lose a little something without Steve but I still find the topics really useful and it is obvious chris has a great deal of coaching knowledge and passion for the sport all around. Totally worth giving a shot if you are into distance running.
I started back into running at age 60 after many years of on and off running hampered by recurring injuries. I have listened to a dozen other running podcasts (and some are very good) but have found Chris to be the clearest instructor on the sport . I have learned so much and now have run 2 half marathons (my first in 40 years) - both under 2 hours. Give it a listen if you want to get serious into running.
This philosophies espoused by the host are dated and seem more based on his insistence that his methods are right for everyone despite what the science says. I would recommend his guidance to someone who is new to running or doesn’t have much natural athleticism, and if that’s the target audience I think the podcast is a really good resource. But positioning his philosophies as appropriate for performance minded runners is either dishonest or ignorant. Having said that, the host is a very good communicator so would be nice to hear him have alternate, science based viewpoints join the podcast for an interesting debate.
