I love this show and the new perspective it brings to the true crime genre. The host asks great questions and leaves it to listeners to form their own opinions about guilt or innocence but aside from that sheds much needed light on the American justice system. While not all of the people telling their stories appear to be innocent, or even claim to be, it is interesting and informative to listen to the other side of the story and humanizes incarcerated people without taking away from the victims or their families. I like hearing the perspective from the defense attorney who weighs in on the cases as well. The host does a wonderful job and I’m always excited for the next episode to come out.

This podcast opened my eyes about a murder that happened in my hometown when I was a teenager. Jack does an amazing job interviewing the inmates and treats them with respect and compassion. Highly recommend giving this a listen!

If you’re lucky enough to stumble upon this gem, sit back and binge away. Easy to follow, great content, informative and the host has everything it takes for a successful podcast. I’m hooked. Edit: all the above still applies but I would like to add, if this podcast doesn’t infuriate you, you’re dead inside. So many innocent lives spent locked up because of a failed judicial system. It could happen to any of us especially if you’re a Person of color or marked by poor economic class. Makes me sick. I want to help somehow yet I feel helpless. I don’t know how some of these people aren’t writhe with anger.
One more thing: Jack Lawrence is outstanding. He is always so thorough and seems to ask every question I come up with. His voice and tone make it such a nice listen.

This podcast is so raw & also absurdly refreshing due to Jacks responses to the stories the inmates tell. We listeners can all play judge & jury on which inmates we think are innocent. But much more than that we are forced to think more about how unjust the American "justice" system is & how American prisons are for the most part a simple business model equating to modern day slavery. Most importantly this podcast makes clear that with one wrong turn or bad decision some of these stories could be absolutely anyone. That is absolutely terrifying.HOWEVER I AM UPDATING TO SAY ENOUGH WITH THE NARCISSISTS PROMOTING THEIR BOOKS! PLEASE RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL FORMAT OF TRUE STORIES (& WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FEMALE STORIES?)
