Honestly, I love anything from Dateline. I never have to ask myself “Is this going to be stupid?” or “Will they ask the right questions?” or “Does the host actually care about the victims?” because of their long history of being excellent journalists

5 stars for the excellent reporting by Keith Morrison, as always. Zero stars for the Dateline podcast series because I was able to listen to 3 episodes, enough to get invested, but can’t listen to the rest without subscribing and having to pay. What a rip off! I’ll just watch the episode instead (S21 E14), which is basically word for word as the podcast and I get to see faces.

My heart aches for everyone’s loss and the loss of this young girls life, which is of most importance. Keith Morrison sure can lull you to sleep with the voice though! Well told story and couldn’t wait for the next episode.

For this to be a truly interesting podcast and not the shallow one it actually is, producers needed to research WHY the perpetrators committed such a senseless, violent crime. Without some sort of dive into their psychology, this is just a mish mash of news articles.

It’s an interesting story, but there is no absolute truth uncovered. There are a handful of “truths” that come out throughout the episode but nothing verified. Granted the only way to get that is from the people involved in the murder and the two responsible are wishy-washy teens. This could’ve been an enjoyable 90min episode, but miniseries is too much. Overall felt like a waste of time. If you’re looking for something to listen to it’s fine but not if you want a well rounded story.
