I’m shocked to read this podcast has bad reviews. It’s thoroughly researched, presented concisely, and covers a wide variety of viewpoints without every seemingly biased towards balance.

I tend to skip other podcasts when it’s a case I’ve already heard but not with Stephanie. She is so unique in the way she starts her pods, that I can listen to cases I’ve already heard because of how she tells it. Easily one of my favorites. Thank you Rotten Mango and Stephanie Soo 🫶🏽

rm thankfully isn’t as insensitive as some other true crime podcasts, but i will say that constantly mentioning online opinions when there’s little to no relevance gets kind of annoying after a while. also, why do they split the full length youtube audios into multiple episodes for apple podcasts? i started noticing it with the mackenzie shirilla case, where on youtube there’s only 2-3 parts, but there’s basically double that on apple. i also feel like the titles of episodes should be more clearly written and less clickbait-ish. i know that you guys are youtube based, but i kinda miss when there was only a few words and then the name of the case in parentheses, like in their earlier episodes. i have a slight bone to pick with the strange censorship choices (ex. r-word, self-exit, self-pleasure, etc.), but i also get that it’s because you’re youtube based. but aside from the things that i mentioned, i really like this podcast!

I’ve been a big fan of Rotten Mango for several years and really loved the storytelling and the fact that she covered a lot of international true crime that I hadn’t heard anywhere else. However, I feel like ever since the Diddy trial the episodes have become WAY too drawn out with too much unnecessary detail. So many stories are 3, 4 or even 5 parts yet much of the extra time is spent just repeating what users on Reddit thought about it. Especially when it’s followed by the disclaimer that most likely whatever info from ___user on Reddit is probably not true. So why bother mentioning it? Kind of feels like she’s just stretching these out while not offering quality content. Don’t get me wrong, I love a long, detailed, true crime podcast, but not if it’s just a lot of filler.

The narrator’s voice was so fast that I actually checked my settings for speed. It’s like she just drank a gallon of espresso before an audition for a local theatre.
Made me agitated listening to her.
And lord have mercy, she says “blood splatter.” Splatter?? If you’re doing true crime podcast, you should know it’s spatter.
I couldn’t get through one episode.

True crime is a sensitive topic that I don’t think should be treated as lightly as it is in todays day. Which makes me glad Stephane donates to organizations regarding assault, crime, etc.
but, the dumbing down of words for censorship is a bit upsetting. Like you are talking about horrible things anyways but you won’t say rape, you won’t even say sexual assault, it’s just “SA”. I get this is so YouTube doesn’t demonize but it makes light of the situation.
I also find it a bit distasteful to reenact a victim/ perpetrators dialogue, trying to show their character. Even if it is in a positive light it’s just weird to me. Like if I was killed neeevvver put words in my mouth period. I would much rather hear family/friend testimonials non reenacted.
Last point but if you have to change the victims names because they want to stay anonymous… mabye you shouldn’t be making content from it.
Hot take but they just want that part of their lives in the past, not have it come up again for millions to see again.
Overall I think Stephanie’s content is trying so hard to be “good” that it in turn dumbs down serious topics. Imo true crime should be a no theatrics, just the information, to best respect victims.
Also many episodes for months have been cutting off at the end, repeating itself.
