Last Podcast On The Left

Hi! Gay guy here. Still giving y’all 5 stars because I’m a longtime fan and I don’t want to penalize you, but around the 5-6 minute mark (and beyond) of the Cruising ep of Movie Stories there are some big, broad, and under-qualified statements about how the gay community ~feels~ about it. Personally, I’m quite fond of the film, as are many of my (let’s say) like-minded friends; some critiques still hold up, but there’s a great deal of missed context as to why activists at the time were hypervigilant about representation, and a lot of (sorry) arrogantly-spouted apochrypha regarding how we supposedly “feel,” or even felt at the time. If I could humbly make a couple suggestions, I’d urge you to A) not treat a community as a monolith that unilaterally feels One Type Of Way, B) mitigate the sense of authority with which you speak about a broad group and their complex cultural history, or even C) ask a single solitary gay person to weigh in on what might be going on there rather than putting words in thousands of mouths. I do not feel that the conversation did any justice to current sentiment or past controversy, and it made for a very frustrating listen.

I listen to this podcast almost daily! Whether it be new episodes or old reruns of past episodes, it keeps me entertained constantly. I love the dynamic between all the guys. Marcus’ awesome story telling and Henry and Ed with their comedic interjections have me rolling! Keep up the awesome job guys, you’re killing it!

This is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite podcast of all time. ❤️ I originally stumbled across Last Podcast on the Left while searching for a good serial killer podcast, and I honestly had no idea I was about to find something I would become completely obsessed with. I love the dark humor, but what really keeps me coming back is the incredible amount of detail that goes into every episode. Somehow, the guys can take some of the darkest, most disturbing subjects imaginable and make them genuinely fascinating—and somehow hilarious at the same time. One of my favorite things is when something from an episode randomly pops into my head during the day and I suddenly start laughing out loud. 😂 My husband has definitely been woken up more than once because I’m lying in bed listening at night, trying desperately to keep my laughter quiet and failing miserably. I have insomnia, so this podcast has become one of my favorite nighttime rituals. But beyond the laughs, this show has genuinely gotten me through some really dark moments in my life. There have been times when I really needed something to take my mind off things, and somehow Last Podcast on the Left has always managed to make me laugh when I needed it most. I’m honestly so grateful I randomly found this podcast. What started as me looking for a good serial killer show turned into discovering one of the funniest, most entertaining, and oddly comforting things I’ve ever listened to. Thank you for all the laughs, the ridiculous moments, the incredible research, and for being there during some of my darkest nights. ❤️ Hail yourselves! 🤘

If you don’t have a sense of humor, don’t listen. These guys are the best of the best. Ed has only made things better. Could I do without Henry’s obsession to be 90’s Howard Stern 2.0? Sure. But when he’s on, he’s on. Marcus is the anchor and fantastic at it.

I have been a long time fan of lpotl but it’s just gotten unlistenable. Marcus can’t even get through two sentences before Henry jumps in with a long winded bad impression or unrelated aside. It’s very hard to follow the stories anymore or learn anything about the subject matter. Eddie is pretty funny / droll and Marcus is well researched but Henry is out of control and annoying and it just feels disrespectful to the victims and other people impacted by these crimes.

It’s pretty embarrassing that these guys brag about their decade + of podcast experience, but they completely lack all mic skills (or their editor is completely worthless). Your voice is being broadcast directly into our ears, people go to school to learn how to talk on mic, control their breathing, and not to make noise while other people are talking. Henry and Ben’s constant snorting into the mic make this completely unlistenable. Im trying, guys, how have you not gotten any better? This is a prime example of why people go to school to learn how to broadcast. I love their content, when it is listenable, but lately it appears and sounds to be getting worse. Off mic act outs, radio silence, constant mouth and snorting sounds make this show completely unlistenable. Which is a shame, because when it is edited, it is quite funny.
