Episode 6 captivated me with its exploration of Salem’s witch history and the intricate portrayal of the family’s shop. These elements provided a richer context to the case and conviction, deepening my understanding of the narrative. I’m eagerly anticipating the next episode to see how the investigation unfolds.

I don’t know if I’ve ever listened to a podcast that invoked such feelings of frustration towards law enforcement and the legal process. Maybe it’s the mom in me? Whatever the matter I found myself genuinely shocked and enraged at how things were handled in this case. The ripple effects will be long-lasting and dire for everyone involved. It’s not okay! All of that being said, this podcast is genuinely well-researched and reported. Not sure why the rating isn’t higher…but do yourself a favor and give it a listen!

Grabs you from the start, I wished the episodes could be much longer - waiting a week for the next episode is torture. Definitely binge worthy. The Defense Diaries on UTube are a very nice addition to the Pod Cast.

This podcast was 🤯. Highly recommend listening to every episode. What a rollercoaster of a case. Despite my interest in the case I am at an absolute draw. I full heartedly believe that she did not receive a fair trial. Not in any sense of the word. That being said, I am not convinced of her innocence. The lack of evidence suggests shotty police work and the obtuse court proceedings have left both victim and accused in limbo. Like so many murder cases, the truth may never be revealed; but everyone involved deserved better from the police, the media, and the courts.

The stepmom’s fantastical story of what happened that day is utterly implausible - comical even.
And the producers are falling for it.
It’s so painfully obvious she did it that this podcast is hard to listen to, despite the production being good.
They gloss over all the evidence only to focus of irrelevant bits of information.
Look, I can understand the mother of the perpetrator defending her despite the obvious, but I expect professionals to be less gullible and exercise common sense.

This “reporter” relies heavily on emotion; especially race, gender, religion, and socioeconomics to manipulate her narrative. She ignores and refutes evidence by the prosecution in favor of conjecture by the convicted murderer’s family and friends. I’d never heard of this case, but I left the podcast feeling Julia is 100% guilty, and this podcaster was trying to make lemonade out of rotten lemons.
