What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I have been listening to Inside Bipolar on and off for awhile, but their episode today concerning job choices for people living with bipolar was especially poignant. I live with bipolar disorder and am an LCSW, specialized in working in the school setting. I especially related to the discussion of, sometimes, the people who love us holding us back. If I would have listened, I never would have gone back to grad school or enrolled in a DSW program. It is a delicate line - like y’all said. Support, be hesitant. BUT when the voice in our head is saying we can’t succeed at anything, and we FINALLY get the courage to express our dreams, and the people we love echo this lack of trust… it’s devastating. Basically, thank you for bringing it back to basics - it’s a NORMAL experience. Not our mental illness. Thank you both so much. I will be sharing these ideas with the young people I work with also living with serious mental illness. The last thing they need are more barriers to hope.

This podcast has changed my life. I believe some psychiatrists are great, but they only take sliding scale or care about a patients meds. The only way to be truly educated about your disabilities is to hear from other thriving people with the same thing you have and to learn more about them! You don’t have to stand alone. Also, way too many therapists don’t even have the kind of knowledge that this podcast brings. Simply life changing!!!!!! Dr. Nicole is completely a game changer for me when they speak together. Wow

Hate sit ups · Jun 2025

I really enjoy this podcast. The two perspectives brought by Gabe and Dr. Nicole are unique and balanced. Gabe gives a very inside and personal view of how his mind and body feel while going through an episode or remembering one. This helps me understand what my son might be experiencing. Dr. Nicole balances the conversation with her professional background in a relaxed and fun way. This show differs from others because it feels like you are in your living room just chatting about an important topic with Gabe and Dr. Nicole. Thank you both!

Essovaro · May 2025

I’m a person living with bipolar and I like that I have both the perspective of a doctor and the perspective of the patient (and loved ones of patients). It explores areas from different angles to acknowledge that cases can vary. Thanks Gabe to be so open about your story.

cintia zambrano · Jan 2025

The topics can be super interesting at first blush, but I find the hosts to be unsympathetic and patronizing towards people’s personal choices, particularly in regards to medication. I think the show could use a trigger warning for people who consider themselves psychiatric survivors. We are making decisions that affect every moment of our lives and have huge impacts on our health and quality of life. It is a deeply personal and complex thing. Not doing what your doctor tells you does not you mean you lack insight or are foolish or uninformed. At most, they know you for an hour a week, or more likely, an hour or two a year. Both hosts often seem incredulous that people might want to make their own medical decisions. Honestly, at times I find it down right insulting. I would love to find a podcast covering some of these topics that takes a much more person-centered approach.
