I love the researched backed health advice that Kayla gives. The short but insightful episodes are great for on-the- go listening. As a mom who’s postpartum, I wish I found her sooner!

Dr. Kayla’s journey reminds me so much of mine, and gives me hope of what I want to work on now as an active mom of 2!

I want to offer a more critical perspective, because I think potential listeners deserve a balanced view alongside the overwhelmingly positive reviews here. First, what this podcast gets right: Dr. Kayla is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in pelvic health, and her episodes on postpartum recovery, diastasis recti, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and returning to exercise after childbirth are genuinely evidence-based and valuable. Pelvic floor PT is well-supported by research and is underutilized in the US — this podcast does real good in raising awareness of it. However, the podcast also ventures well outside that expertise, and that's where problems arise. In episodes 57 and 58, several misleading claims are made about hormonal birth control: • The pill is described as definitely causing cancer. While combined oral contraceptives do appear on the WHO's Group 1 carcinogen list, this means there is evidence of association under certain conditions — not that it causes cancer in typical users. Critically, the pill is also well-documented to reduce risk of ovarian and endometrial cancers. • Fertility damage from the pill is implied to be significant and lasting. In reality, fertility typically returns within 1–3 months for most people after stopping. • Episode 58 tells all listeners that "we need to take steps to get you off" hormonal birth control — a blanket directive that ignores the many legitimate medical reasons women are prescribed it, including endometriosis, PCOS, and severe period pain. Episode 60 also promotes supplements and a paid preconception program, raising questions about whether the repeated fearmongering about food, medicine, and birth control serves the audience's interests or the host's commercial ones. Dr. Kayla is a skilled and knowledgeable pelvic health PT. But medical claims about hormonal contraception fall outside that expertise, and presenting them as fact to a trusting audience is irresponsible. Please consult an OB-GYN for personalized guidance on contraception.
