This used to be such a great podcast to listen to. Still, there is good information and the content is so important. However, the episodes now seem like one big advertisement for classes and courses sold by the creator. This makes it feel so disingenuous. When people are in a vulnerable spot and sales are pushed, it feels like another person is trying to take advantage. We all know Anne has good intentions. She is just trying to help. I am sure she doesn’t mean to come off this way. Overall, I am grateful for the info.
Many thanks for this podcast. It clarified my situation in ways that therapy did not. It gave me understanding of the many confusing and conflicting signals I was receiving in my marriage. I am deeply grateful for Anne and her commitment to helping women to safety.
I read through the reviews here and I almost laughed at the negative ones. I want to say that I’ve sought out resources besides BTR and I think BTR is hands down the best. Most women going through abuse aren’t brainwashed, as some have stated, into thinking their marriage is unfixable. We already know deep down it’s bad so when we find a podcast or resource that helps us, it’s like a lifeline that we haven’t found before. Women are strong and capable. If anyone is brainwashing us, it’s the abuser. It takes so much for us to leave or even start thinking about it. We are squashed and minimized daily and if we do leave, it’s after multiple failed attempts. I think the podcasts are great at reframing the lies we’ve been led to believe. I’m not codependent. I don’t need to fix myself in order to make the marriage work. The problem is that abuse is not my problem to fix. It’s his problem. And anything that helps me get clarity and free from harm is a resource that is invaluable. For some of us, this podcast and the group sessions are the difference between life and death.
Anne is providing a space for women that is a life line. I have been to over 10 years of traditional therapy, life star, and had my own practice helping people overcome addiction. I believe this model to be the best space to help Navigate Betrayal Trauma! Thank you so much for your continued efforts to educate truth!
There are nuggets of truth in this podcast. If you have been abused or hurt by betrayal in any way, you are most definitely a victim. That being said, you don’t have to stay in victim mode which I believe is right where this podcast keeps you. I can see why so many reviews are raving about feeling seen and heard and listeners are relieved to get some answers. I would have loved this podcast if I had found it at the beginning of my healing journey too. I am a decade in, and can tell you for a fact that there are MANY other resources out there that are just as validating, but actually help you heal, find peace, and move on. This podcast may keep you in victim mode and delay your healing. A perfect example is from the podcast description itself. Codependency doesn’t have to be shameful. You don’t have to deny that you are or have been codependent. It is a survival technique that we adopt to receive the love that we want from our addict/abuser/loved one. Is it healthy? No. Can we own our codependent self and accept that we have been codependent so that we can then process and move on from it? Absolutely! This is what healing is—not being bitter about being called codependent and denying that part of our story. New listeners, maybe start with this podcast for validation and answers, but please also look to other sources for betrayal trauma recovery that will give you additional perspectives on healing.
It's almost shocking to hear voices exactly describe the silent and personal experiences of people whose partners use porn. This podcast will make a more genuine impact if it can be more authoritative. This might look like: Clinically experienced guests, research-vetted facts, avoidance of posing opinions or personal scripture interpretation opinions as truth.
