The Deck Investigates

The Deck Investigates is a well told story and I love Ashley Flowers. Her inflection her tone drags you in and you want to know how this story ends. I have to admit I am a crime Junky and listen to her and Brit. They have great chemistry so I would recommend listening to that as well.

Ashley offers strength in revealing critical details of each case as well as a confident, strong voice when delivering the story. It is clear that she takes pride in accurate retelling and respect for those involved.

I don’t normally enjoy anything passed the actual crime. Not to intrigued by investigations or the criminal prosecution that comes after. But wow, this was really well done, kept me on my toes the entire time. I started listening since I had no more new episodes of other podcasts this week. Literally couldn’t stop, highly recommend.

I’ve been a crime junkie since I was about 15 years old, I am now 21. I can say from listening to Crime Junkie and now this series, Ashley, Brit, Emily and others involved with either series are doing investigators and families a favor. Ashley and her team going deep into this case and pressing authorities to take action and do the dirty work is what covering cases on podcasts is about, to stir up interest and memory. I am astonished by Ashley and her teams deductive skills and all they have found. I hope to have updates soon. I am so invested in this case, and will keep praying for answers and peace for the family.

Season one was so so so good, I really enjoyed the heart they put into each of the episodes, the details and making sure we are receiving as much information as possible to get it solved for the family and Darlene. If I could give season one 5 stars I would. However, season two I felt that the story was rushed, grasping at straws and just overall not a good way to explain the case that deserves to be solved. I love all of AudioChucks shows, I listen everyday. But this season was disappointing, I know that’s it not fair to the victim or to their family’s who have lived with this every day. I wish there was more information, more details, longer episodes. I saw a comment that stated this could of been a 2-parter on CJ and I agree. You could of at least gave Ada the same effort you put into Darlene’s case. Season 1 is 5 stars, I’d say season 2 is a solid 1-2 stars :(

I was super excited when I seen there was going to be a season 2 for the Deck Investigates because I loved season one, but this was such a disappointment. I concur with the other reviews that the episodes were too short and there were too many ads, but what I disliked most was how there wasn’t any investigative work done; they essentially just retold the story. They didn’t uncover any new information and weren’t able to interview anyone because most of the people were deceased (to no fault of their own). IMO this could have easily been a two-part episode on crime junkie.
