The content is decent in a lot of cases but the audio quality is really poor. They need some better mics or some better compression or something. It makes it kind of tough to listen to over time. Otherwise it wouldn’t be so bad. Recent episodes have felt a lot more casual and spitballing. Not necessarily bad. Just compared to other content in this genre the quality seems pretty bad which is holding it back. Content is there though.

I appreciate the entire SOFREP team bringing forward relevant topics with real conversation. These are stories that people need to hear told by Veterans who have been on the front lines. #leadershipfromthefrontlines

Love the podcast as these beyond words brave men describe the missions they served on while giving the humanity of their experiences impact on their soul and what they endured (which a lot of millennials who grew up on call of duty video game cannot comprehend) through being heroic and protecting OUR freedoms

This is an excellent Podcast with great personal stories, perspectives on various national and global issues. It has opened mind my to different topics, events, and perspectives I then research and frame my own perspective upon. I wouldn’t change a thing accept for getting a new step it moderator. Steve Balestrieri is absolutely terrible to listen to. He is ill prepared on the topics, guests, and often there is weird silence or transitions during a show. I’m sure he is knowledgeable but this is not his calling and will bring down your ratings the more he is on. He is the first person I look for and when conducting the interview, I skip what probably could have been great guests with fascinating stories and important topics to discuss.
Keep up the great work team! JB

I want to love this podcast, I really do! The topic is amazing and the guests are usually awesome, but Rad is a terrible interviewer. Firstly he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and that’s fairly obvious and even forgivable if this weren’t a military themed podcast, but he also interrupts the guests constantly and seems to feel the need to talk when he’d be better served by actually listening and letting the guest tell their own story. And some of the comments he makes and questions he ask are things I hear from kids who have played too much Call of Duty rather than an experienced host interviewing some of the most experienced Special Operations personnel this country has. Every time he speaks it’s as if I’m hearing fingernails on a chalkboard, hence the poor rating here. If there was a way to mute Rad and just listen to the guest I’d give 3-4 stars, and with a decent host this would be 5 stars all day long.

I hate giving so few stars for this. The guests and content really is Five star material, BUT the audio production is so poor it makes it very difficult to listen all the way through.
If they could find a way to normalize the audio levels between the Ads, intro, and content it would be great. As it is, your ear drums (or speakers) will be blown out when the too low content audio suddenly blasts an ad in the middle of the interview.
Couple that with a crackling mic for one of the hosts and it’s just a production failure.
Unfortunate.
