5-4

by Prologue Projects

5-4 is a podcast about how much the Supreme Court sucks. Hosted by Peter Shamshiri, Rhiannon Hamam, and Michael Liroff, it's a progressive and occasionally profane take on the ideological battles at the heart of the Court's most important landmark cases and an irreverent tour of all the ways in which the law is shaped by politics. What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

5-4 details important Supreme Court cases and the context surrounding them in an engaging and informative conversational format. I appreciate that they take the time to discuss the procedural nuances and legal contexts and irregularities that are not discussed for normies and fly over my head in legal circles. I look forward to new episodes, but today when a new episode started playing automatically I realized the theme music caused the same dread reaction as when a relative I don't speak with often calls and I already know I'm about to hear something horrible has happened. Peter, Rhiannon, and Michael manage to deliver updates on the death of our civil liberties with skillful bedside manner that doesn't leave me feeling completely hopeless. (most of the time)

your wife's platonic male pal · Sep 2026

Equal parts funny, rage inducing, and enlightening. I laugh, learn something, and leave every episode with at least one fact that’s destined to make extended family dinners more interesting.

Joannimal86 · Jul 2026

I have followed 5-4 for years. The episode with Lisa Graves on Chief Justice Roberts, which is different from the usual wonderful episodes, must be heard. Graves explains, with evidence, why it’s important to understand that Roberts is no umpire. He is as deceptive as Trump, and he is more cunning.

Tracy C 2026 · Jun 2026

Such an important and fantastic podcast. You’ll laugh out loud, want to become a lawyer while simultaneously hating the law… highly recommend 10/10
