Newly orphaned Ishmael Wang finds himself forced off the only planet he knows and thrust into deep space when he takes a job as mess deck attendant on a freighter that plies the spacelanes among the stars. Follow along as Ishmael works his way through the ranks as an interstellar merchant mariner from the lowest quarter share until he finally earns an owner's share at the helm of his own company. Along the way he finds a new family, a sense of purpose, and - eventually - himself.

I can’t praise this highly enough. I was a Sailor, and Mr. Lowell’s description of life aboard ship (albeit in a different medium) is a perfect reflection of the triumphs, tragedies, and humor of those days. The story, setting, and characters could stand up to the Hornblower series easily, and might even earn a place beside Patrick O’Brien. Narration and music are excellent, too.

The narration and the world building are sinfully smooth. The narrator has you in hand before you even realize it. His story telling make you feel as tho you are there and you can’t wait for what happens next.

Great podcast . I'm a seasoned listen and have grown accustomed to the immersive ones. This isn't one of those HOWEVER it is delightfully written and a great story. I found myself laughing and smiling while listening 😊
