The few bad reviews that exist are often complaining that they wish there was more show (So they liked the show) or they’re confused by the premise. It’s an amazing and unique fiction show with an atmosphere that anyone who has been listening to the radio at night understands. Yes, the narrator is supposed to sound professional— it’s a story told indirectly via someone doing their job. At the risk of ruining the joke, the dissonance you feel is the entire point.
I’ve started binging this from the beginning and have truly loved every episode I’ve heard so far! I think it’s so clever and love catching the callbacks to prior episodes.
I grew up listening to this podcast because my brother and I would sit in his room and play Legos and listen to this. So when he moved out I kept listening to it and now it’s the only podcast I listen to. I’ve listened to every episode and the recap show, Good Morning Night Vale. Each episode feels like it’s own story, and I want to thank Joseph and Jeffery for making this because it helps me bring out my spooky, eerie side whenever I’m doing work, cleaning or even just sitting in my bed. I’ve tried to get my other friends into it but I think it might be a bit to weird for them but I totally recommend this show to anyone who loves creepy and strange “twilight like” stories!
I just finished listening to the first episode of Welcome to Night Vale, and I'm hooked! The surreal storytelling and deadpan humor is unlike anything l've heard before.
But only about half of the twenty minutes are the show. Also, they randomly make you listen to OTHER podcasts that they make so you’ll go subscribe to them. They spend very little time on actual storytelling, most of it is ads for other shows or musical interludes. Not worth babysitting your phone for fifteen minutes of content out of every thirty of listening.
now it's 10 minutes of content in between 20 minutes of commercials. we get maybe one ep every three months in between obnoxious cross promos and feed drops to things no one asked for. the writing and plot has been phoned in for ages. really disappointing.
