National Emergency

Such a good story! Great voice actors. There were moments that were described so well that I was uneasy listening to it. Really hope there’s a season 2 coming soon because leaving us with that cliffhanger finale of season 1 would be brutal!

I was looking for another podcast dealing with horror and I’m so happy I found this one. I binged all episodes in one day now I’m waiting for more!!!

This has literally been the best audio drama I have ever listened to. I just listened to Bunker 8 it was also awesome but this one I need more of ASAP pretty please. Like I just binge listened to the whole thing in like a day and a half and I need more.

The emergencies are the strongest part of the show but there’s unfortunately only 3 in Season 1. I think the voice actors are fine but there’s a lot of overacting. Outside of the Emergencies, the story needs more polish and editing. It is insanely and painfully repetitive. Not just between episodes but sometimes characters repeat themselves in their next line. They describe the Emergency that takes the wife in episode 2 and then devote an episode to it later with no noteworthy updates. It would be better to reveal these big plot points during the actual flashback and only hint at them at first. When the agent interrogates the three, we are given the same conversation three times. The main character is treated as an angsty misunderstood tragic baby who the world is against and he isn’t very sympathetic. Lisa, the best friend, has no character other than coddling Owen and possibly swooping in on her dead(?) friend’s husband. The storyline is very amateurish. I was also very distracted by some plot points. Why are they letting an ex-con drive a school bus? Does he have the appropriate license for operating a school bus? Why are they letting someone who botched his first Emergency drive kids? Has this man not experienced an Emergency in prison? He was firefighter-why did his first responder training go out the window? Later they talk about implementing drills for the kids during Emergencies even though the Emergencies have been happening for over a year. Why hasn’t the government agency already developed drills for everyone, especially kids? Real kids have drills in school for fires, tornadoes, active shooters, and even evacuations from buses so why don’t the kids in this world have drills for the confirmed supernatural events?

Interesting plot but the dialogue is tediously repetitive. Scenes and monologues that are nearly word-for-word repeats of each other even though the characters are different. Owen swings from morbid to anxious to indignant again and again and again…
