Ive listened to hundreds if not thousands of different podcasts episodes. The podcast that ranks number one for me this year has to be The Unforgotten. Texas true crime at its finest, Carol Dawson has the best narrative voice & Wes Ferguson ties it all together to perfection. I also listened to his other podcast Devil Town in between episodes and then realized I had already listened to standoff a few years back. I’ve never ever listened to a podcast that made me think that the hosts & listeners could actually solve a crime but my God after listening to the last 2 episodes I have no doubt justice will be served.

I read /listen to a lot of True Crime and there are so many sad stories and every victim deserves justice regardless of who they are or how much money or influence the potential suspects or perpetrators have but there is something that gets in a lot of our claws when someone of means seemingly gets away with it. It shouldn’t really matter either way but our need for justice for them often seems greater. Often I’m less engaged on unresolved cold cases that go so far back such as in this case of 30 years later and seems like too long to make a difference but what I appreciated about the way this true life tragic story was presented was the candid interviews and first hand accounts of the experiences and feelings so many people had just being within the orbit of this crime. I’m weirdly fascinated by how the acts of one or a few people can so wildly change or move the trajectory of other people’s lives. The real ripple affect and view of the true collateral damages can only really be seen over time and I believe that’s why these cases are so important. Something I read awhile back that really resonates with me and I think is especially applicable also in small towns and communities just as with families…”Trauma runs through families until someone is brave enough to feel it, bring it out into the light, address it and actively do the work to break the cycle for future generations.“

This is an excellent podcast!! Once you start, you will be hooked. So well done!! I grew up near Corsicana and remember this murder when I was a child. So inspired by the producers and their team for remembering this precious life and trying to bring justice to Shelley. I pray this podcast moves those with information to come forward and overcome the corruption and intimidation bought by money and lies.
