What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

This podcast really opens your eyes as a parent. It’s so important to know what your kids are doing and thinking, especially at those weird ages where hormones and peer pressure are at their highest! I’ve enjoyed listening thus far and am just shocked at the reactions of the murderers’ parents-disappointed for receiving life convictions at 16?!! Ummm HELLO!!! Your 16 year old brutally and viciously murdered a scared and innocent girl!! I’m sorry but anyone who has a messed up brain, heart, and soul like that deserves to be locked up forever! The adrenaline rush and extreme excitement they felt after they stabbed their friend to death is evidence enough to prove they will continue to do this if they are free. They are where they belong! Justice for CASSIE!

While the content and coverage of this case is very extensive with regard to the perpetrators, I’m disappointed and surprised that the victim is lost in all the family interviews of the perpetrators’ families. I would like to know more about Cassie than what was shared. Also the podcasters say that three families were affected by this heinous murder. They are very wrong. The extended families of Cassie especially the family where the murder took place. Do better guys.

I feel challenged by this review because I feel like it’s a classic example of “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”, but I think it’s important feedback, so here we are. What happened here? Firstly, this case has been covered dozens of times. I was expecting a different take, more information, a new perspective 20 years later, SOMETHING that would separate it from the rest. But so far, it seems to be a straight retelling with some odd interjections from 2 hosts who have no business telling this story together. Separately, maybe they both have careers that make sense, but their voices, styles, and overall narrative direction feel COMPLETELY opposite. Are they friends ? Coworkers ? Strangers on the street ? Is one 55 and the other 17? I have so many questions. There was also a weird moment where one of them tried to make a statement about how Bryan’s sister’s loss of innocence is nothing compared to Cassie’s loss of life, which felt so… unnecessary? Who is trying to compare those two things? They don’t need to be compared. They can both have value. Lastly, is this meant to be funny? Serious? I don’t understand the commentary. It’s not enough to be sharing truly new perspectives, and it’s too long to be reasonable interjections to help the audience follow the storyline. 20/20 made an unusual choice with this podcast in their library. I’d love to understand their thought process and quality standards.
