I read the book Caste before I was aware of the podcasts. I have already highly recommended the book to everybody I know, as even for a huge history buff as myself it contains knowledge and history I was totally unaware of. Plus Isabel has a way of sharing that history that makes it so engaging personal. Once I found the podcasts, I listened to all of them in about three days. The stories by the participants in the sessions reinforced and emphasized so much of what Isabel had brought forth in the book. I strongly encourage everyone to both read the book and listen to the podcasts! So much knowledge and history within both.

Isabel Wilkerson has a wonderful way of bringing dry material to life and making it enthralling reading. The horror of what our culture has inflicted on POC, minorities and truly all of us through this caste system is really on display in these pages. I’ll admit I didn’t know some of the history discussed and felt ashamed that I never knew it. I also find it fascinating that there are still a number of people who are made so incredibly uncomfortable when they hear about this topic that they feel the need to denigrate both Oprah and Wilkerson rather than taking a look in the mirror. Their reviews of this podcast say all that needs to be said about just how far this country has yet to go in terms of really addressing the root causes and finding solutions. This book and podcast are a place to start. Intelligent, insightful writing. Much appreciated.

I listened to this book first then purchased it and read it with my highlighter, pen and post it’s. This book was a punch in the gut that I believe all should feel. It has opened my eyes to so much and Thank you does not seem enough.
It has been educational, spiritual and made me look at myself. I have looked at my thoughts, words and actions. Thank you

After listening to the audiobook of Caste, I’ll never be the same again. This book is a revelation. If people could just be open to receiving the message of this book, it would fundamentally change our society and the interactions we have with people who are different from us. These conversations between Isabel and Oprah are an essential must-listen
