I listened to Trevor Noah and Eugene every night. I love this podcast because Trevor and Eugene smoothly bounce off each other's humor, creating an engaging and entertaining atmosphere. The guests they invite are highly informative, often experts or influential figures in their fields, which adds valuable insights to each episode. Trevor's interviewing style is thoughtful and in-depth, allowing him to explore topics thoroughly. I've learned a great deal from this podcast, both intellectually and culturally.
I’ve listened to a few episodes. There are some great enlightening and hilarious comments from the hosts, I do enjoy the three of them …but the interjections can be too frequent and too drawn out in a way that sort of abandons the guest being interviewed (I think this is sometimes a particular comedic style that isn’t my favorite, especially on a podcast). I was excited to hear Dr. Boroditsky recently, but had to turn off this interview and seek her out elsewhere bc the podcast opens with around 10min of banter (I commend the guest for her grace throughout). I agree with others that minor editing would go far.
Trevor has such a reflective humor and intelligence and I truly believe his work makes the world a better place. As a longtime fan, I’m so glad the show has returned to its original roots of more structured interviews! I miss the days of Josh and Christiana, but happy to see Trevor and Eugene have moved away from the rambly, bro-style conversations that were harder (in my opinion) to follow. The show feels like itself again! Love tuning in and learning new things. Particularly enjoyed recent episodes with Alice Han, Katie Couric, and Jose Andres.
Fantastic interview, as usual. Trevor manages to ask questions in which, I believe, help the listeners learn about the person who he is speaking to or the subject he is speaking about. He did the same thing in this interview with Ms Tracee Ellis Ross. The listener is also able to begin to learn (if this is the first time listening) the friendship between Trevor and Eugene. As usual, Eugene was comical and gives insight into who Trevor is and their friendship.
Cohosts banter is a terrible distraction and disrespectful to interesting guests. Trevor has the clout and market to attract meaningful guests and conversations but that is diminished by the friend’s conversations and interjections that are not pertinent to the discussion or valuable to the audience.
It feels like Trevor gets some really interesting, intelligent guests (like TER) but he and his co host just cut her off incessantly. I think the two guys are genuinely way too impressed with their own boring banter. Please understand that we want to hear what the guest has to say, not what Trevor has to say.
