Before & After with Lester Holt

I started with the Colin Kaepernick episode because I was extremely disappointed with the blowback from Kaepernick’s decision 10 years ago. When this first started, I fully supported his action. I am a middle-aged white woman. I understood — and respected — other people having opinions about it, but found it astonishing that so many people claimed he was unAmerican. I am a Veteran. This is exactly why I served: EVERYONE has the right to protest. This episode shines a light on the issues that are kicked up when a public figure expresses his views and the general public doesn’t like it. Great reporting.

What a fascinating idea! I think everyone has at least one of those moments in their lifetime. You feel lost in your own reality for a bit because it just so thoroughly rocks your world. Most people just hang on by their fingernails and somehow find a way through. I’ll never forget how thoroughly my 13-yr old son’s cancer diagnosis split my life into before and after. Circumstances may be different, but we can all empathize. Lester Holt is top notch as always.

Lester Holt is a great journalist and this podcast offers insightful looks at pivotal points in people’s lives and it’s very thought-provoking and meaningful. I’m not a big news person but love this podcast for the insights and great interviews.

I love Lester Holt’s introduction for Dateline episodes. For many Dateline listeners, the voices of Lester Holt and Keith Morrison are key elements of the program, so when I saw Lester Holt had a new podcast, I was interested. There’s only 1 episode so far, but it was a great interview. Holt sits down with Colin Kaepetnick and it felt like both a conversation and a master class in journalism. No dramatic music, no questions that felt like an attempt to get a scoop (or gossip). Also no murders, but that’s not a bad thing. I like Dateline but so far, I love Before & After.
