My brother had a drug addiction and these conversations have helped me better understand recovery and the challenges. The message of hope is a message we can all benefit from. Thank you for providing this platform.
This podcast is so raw and vulnerable. Every episode I listen to moves me in a special way. I connect with so much of it being an addict myself. I also had the privilege of being a guest on LJ's podcast and you could feel his compassion. He has great energy, asks great questions, and is so vulnerable and raw, it's inspiring. Please listen. It will give you hope.
I don’t know how I found this podcast, but I’m glad I did. Every week I’m taken on someone’s unbelievable journey through heartache through mind blowing and gut-wrenching personal stories of those who have been near death, who have lost everything and eventually have overcome, and fortunately for us have lived to sit down with this exceptional host. Listen as each person describes the details of their lives from their childhood to what their last drink or overdose was like to eventually what recovery looks like for them. The common thread is this: they are sharing in hopes that their story will help even just one person know that hope is out there. Gambling, prescription pills, alcohol, cocaine, the addictions are varied and sometimes combined. No story is the same but the message typically is. I’ve been absolutely moved to tears on numerous occasions listening as these heroic and strong people describe the absolute lowest lows of their lives. With Louis, there, listening and considering their pain and suffering acknowledging at times his own story. He reassures the guests he understands while also allowing them the time and space to fully speak. He never interjects and has a natural ability to steer the conversation in ways that pull the reader in. I’m neither an addict nor in recovery. I’m simply a person who is here to admire the miracles and be moved and reminded that life is not easy but it is often beautiful.
It’s pretty rare to hear podcasts based on trauma and addiction with majority of male guests, so I’m really loving this one so far. As a lady, I have encountered numerous men struggling with inner demons. I hope podcasts like this can help men feel more comfortable discussing addictions, egos and mental health. Love this pod, the hosts and the guests!
