In season 1, we explore Holly's massive family secret. When she was just 17, Holly Brown’s dad was dying of cancer. It looked like life couldn’t get more traumatic, until her dad dropped a bombshell….or two bombshells, really: twin brothers that her entire family kept secret. She was the only one who didn’t know they existed. After his death left her with more questions than answers, Holly sets out to uncover how a secret this big could be hidden, and why the sitcoms that raised her were often the only way to make sense of a life stranger than TV.

This podcast found me at the right time! I too have been toying with art as a mechanism for emotional processing and connection. I found myself relating strongly to the FEELINGS Holly and others in her family experienced, even though I did not have the same experiences as Holly and her family. Great work!

First season - The most personally relatable podcast I’ve ever heard. I feel less alone listening. I’m excited for each episode and also hopeful knowing I’m not the only one who made it out. 5 stars. Second season - Lots of unnecessary swearing that adds almost nothing to the podcast. It’s also sometimes hard to hear the narrator because she mumbles at the end of a joke. I do appreciate how they can recognize terrible things their parents have done, but also hold space for the fact that they’ve gone through a lot of bad stuff too — 4 stars

Found the story mostly interesting and her dynamic with her siblings was sweet and they seem great. But I couldn’t believe how she handled when her family invited the brothers to thanksgiving….they’re their family too, and they had to ask your permission? She completely changed how I saw her—she made them all about her. And she literally said at one point after she met them that this story wasn’t about them, it’s about her. I think Holly needs to do some self reflection and realize these two people actually aren’t only important because of how they relate to her.

This show was such a surprise that I started to listening to solely because it was rated one of the top Apple podcasts. I was not disappointed and listened to every episode back to back! Holly takes such serious topics and brings them to life in a way that definitely keeps your attention. It’s the most unique podcast I’ve ever listened to.

This podcast is well edited but the first episode drags on and on, promising a shocking secret at the end… when you finally get there, the secret is one we’ve heard a million times before. I felt duped.

The story may be compelling but I didn’t make it past Holly and her obnoxious sister - they speak like teenage girls and Holly has an obnoxious tendency to set the stage like a theater kid. It’s all very juvenile. I don’t need to hear six examples of sitcom dads to remember the 90s. Get to the point and learn to tell stories in a more concise way.
