Health vs Hype with the American Medical Association

by iHeartPodcasts

Health vs Hype from the American Medical Association takes on medical misinformation, viral health trends, DIY medicine, and common health myths to help listeners understand what’s real, what’s risky, and what’s backed by science.   Let’s face it: many of us are guilty of occasionally “doing our own research.” We’ve searched symptoms and ended up down a medical rabbit hole. But our health is our greatest asset and trusting it to an algorithm or an influencer can be a costly mistake.   From miracle supplements to cold plunge cures and beyond, Trace Dominguez fact-checks popular health claims, explains how medical misinformation spreads, and reveals the real-world consequences of getting it wrong.    This show is your resource for fact-based, science-backed information from trusted AMA physicians and medical experts around the country, helping you take control of your greatest asset - your good health.   To learn more, visit: amahealthvshype.org

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I was so glad to find Health vs hype to add to my rotation. Trace keeps it real and makes it so easy to know what you can trust. As someone who used to work in the wellness space, I know firsthand how hard it can be to separate truth from fiction in that world. Thank you for this podcast!!!

There is so much content about how we should be optimizing our meat husks, and it’s hard to tell which is backed by science, and which is generated for clicks and contracts. Trace breaks down the trends with people who understand how this stuff works and makes it accessible to an overwhelmed data audience. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series to learn where I’ve been led astray by “influence.”

I feel like if I could create a podcast for myself, it would be this one. I have been pretty obsessed with health / supplements / etc. since my 40th birthday, and often feel like I’m swimming in an endless pool of misinformation. Trace is a FANTASTIC host and I trust him and the AMA. Please do an episode on creatine!!!!! Would also like to hear about ice plunges (do they do anything?)

DarrenAZ58 · Apr 2026

I listen to a lot of health content, and I’m usually somewhere between curious and skeptical. I’ll try things, but I also want to understand what’s actually backed by evidence. Health vs Hype hits that balance better than most. The host — Trace — has a way of unpacking trends without talking down to the listener or pretending there’s always a clean answer. The show doesn’t dismiss ideas outright, but it also doesn’t let questionable claims slide. It walks through what’s known, what’s not, and where people tend to get carried away. What I appreciate most is the tone. It feels curious rather than preachy, and thoughtful without being heavy. I don’t come away feeling like I’ve been sold something or scolded for being interested in it. Just better informed. If you’re someone who experiments with wellness trends but wants a clearer signal through the noise, this is worth adding to your rotation.
