What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I can understand how those who are new to the world of audio drama or those who aren’t familiar with Howie the milkman might be a little skeptical halfway through the first episode, but you must give it a chance. I am/was a MASSIVE fan of Milkman of St Gaff’s, and while this is a completely separate work, the stylistic choices and narrator’s disposition are very similar. It’s intentional, it gives you a very good sense of the character’s internal workings and how they perceive things, the sometimes “monotonous” (although I would choose a different word to describe, maybe subdued, or introspective…) tone of the protagonist is critical in understanding the full scope of the character and the dynamics of the relationships with other characters who he comes across. So far, I am really enjoying the story,’and if anyone who reads this review and hasn’t already, please go check out The Milkman of St Gaff’s

This one has become my favorite! I really didn’t think I’d like it at first, the monotone reading made me laugh a little, but it definitely grew on me. Can’t wait to hear more of the story.

Lynchian in the best way; dark, weird, haunting, with a protagonist who feels constantly out of his element. The voice of the narrator can be off putting, but if you make it past the first episode, the hooks are in.

PizzaPastaMeatball · Apr 2026

Ok, so, I listened for a few and then moved on. Then something very unusual happened; it got in my head and I found myself kind of wanting to hear more. Kind of like a really spicy potato chip, the monotone delivery grows on you like a slow burn. More than once I wondered if that’s part of it, some kind of artistic intention. It could be just what it is. But, like with a super spicy bag of chips, the moment one was gone I was craving more and before you know it the whole bag, or every episode, is gone. It’s unusual but if you just sort of listen and not hyper fixate it’s actually compelling. Its a bit dark, curious and causes you to wonder.
