Fictional

by Jason Weiser, Carissa Weiser | Nextpod

Classic lit with a modern tone, every other week. From the creators of Myths and Legends, comes an altogether same-but-different podcast set in the world of classic lit. These are the stories of Dracula, The Time Machine, The Three Musketeers. They're stories written by Jane Austen, Shakespeare, and H.P. Lovecraft, but with a casual, modern tone. Listen as Jason and Carissa Weiser breathe new life into the classics and tell the stories of some of the greatest books ever written.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I adore this show. It takes stories from a bygone era and makes them so approachable for anyone who enjoyed story time. In fact, listening to these stories got me back into reading the classics. Jason and Carissa do amazing work with all of their podcasts and I’m thankful for em!

Sammypookie · May 2025

I’ve listen to myths and legends for years since I was 12. I loved their episodes that they put out, they have always captured my attention. And when I found out about this podcast I knew I had to give it a listen. The quality and the story line always has me hooked. I listen to one episode “Magic Monkey Paw” and I have fallen in love again. Thank you so much Jason, you’ve changed my life and mind in so many ways. I hope you know how much of a difference you’ve made.

InTheCornerReader · Jan 2025

I love how funny and beginner friendly Fictional makes these otherwise intimidating tales. I listen to each episode to fall asleep (or stay awake to hear the stories in full). My favorite being the Dracula series. It makes me actually want to read the originals. And I am excited to hear a new episode again! And it’s a Christmas Special!!

Kananikekahoku · Dec 2024

Even though it’s been almost two years since the last episode dropped, I listen to this podcast almost weekly, it’s just that good! If there is never another episode, I still have a gut feeling that this will never be topped for me. What a writer, what a performer, what a production team. PS. Myths and Legends rules so, I think I can get by.
