I love this podcast, even tho they do get some stuff wrong. I especially appreciate their acknowledgement of the political aspects and even more, their refusal to let a few complaints make them change. The one thing that bugs me is sometimes they’re extremely judgy about Carl. (A recent example: when Carl stomped on the head of the dead crawler who had the brain worm, but then wouldn’t let Mongo and Rend eat him. They acted like he was the biggest hypocrite, knowing full well that the only way to get to the brain worm and kill it was to get inside the guy’s head. And all the other crawlers know that too. Yes, Carl is having a rough time, but that doesn’t mean he can just, not do what he needs to do.) If I’m yelling at my phone, it’s probably cuz of that. Also, they’re three very funny guys, but maybe could stand to have a lady guest on every once in a while. Those are small bothers tho; they have really great points, and once or twice have caught something I’ve missed, which is great. I also laugh out loud constantly, so that’s nice! :) Oh, and specifically for the apple podcast: please please please for the love of all that is good and right and rational in this world, turn off the automatically generated “chapters” apple started doing. They are the absolute worst. Like, catastrophically, idiotically, bad. In short: great pod, be nice to Carl, turn off the chapters on apple pods.
I absolutely love Hello Crawlers. Their interpretation of the text feels like Method Man breaking down The Wire—sharp, insightful, and seriously entertaining. It’s such a fun way to revisit these amazing books and makes the wait for A Parade of Horribles much easier. Keep it up!
Love this Podcast! The Cast has great chemistry and the setup of each episode is great. They talk about the important bits, explain the confusing bits and teach you all the D&D things. I am reading the books and going back to the podcast with the hosts. 10/10 recommend!!
Love the crew assembled for this podcast. The balance of hosts who are rereading these books along with one who is experiencing it for the first time is such a fantastic concept. I am reading this book series along with the podcast so as a first time reader I appreciate this approach. I don’t worry that I will get spoiled. Lots of recap podcasts end up spoiling things but not so on this show. The group is enthusiastic about the series and very entertaining. Such a great listen. My only suggestion- I would love to hear more about the pop culture Easter eggs that Dinniman peppers into every book. I was Googling a ton of references in the 3rd book.
If you have to preface with “it might be a spoiler but it’s not a big deal” then don’t say it. This is NOT a read along podcast because the hosts are always giving away slight spoilers and it is incredibly frustrating if you have not read the books.
