What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

I have just started listening to the deep dive series and I am blown away by the AMAZING advice Dr. Laura gives and the way she speaks to the callers is necessary because most of the time people get stuck in their own heads and Dr. Laura is great at making you focus on the REAL issues. I’m so glad I found this podcast, she has changed my mindset in such a short period of time. Thank you! Dr. Laura.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I have NEVER seen a doctor/therapist not have any empathy whatsoever. I’m only 15 minutes into an episode and have never gasped so loudly and as many times I have listening to an episode in my entire life. She interrupts people, assumes the worst of the callers, literally YELLS at them and tells them to SHHHH, mocks them, does not leave space for them to explain (which is the purpose of them calling in). She is so f-ing rude. I don’t know why this podcast has 4.6 stars. I even showed some of my friends how she talks to people and we all gasped together!! I’m abhorred!! Never listening again. Do not recommend.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, one of my clients recently asked me if I had listened to Dr. Laura, which I had not. In the one episode I listened to, I found myself shocked and in disbelief in how she treated her callers and I was more shocked that the callers allowed her to bully her way through the call. She was condescending, she spoke over her guests, she dismissed their traumatic histories, and she insulted these women as if their husband‘s bad behavior would be their fault for not having enough sex with them. What era are we living in? This rhetoric is not only dangerous but should not be offered as advice to anyone. She is not representative of a therapeutic process and there are resources available if looking for evidence based therapy that can help these callers address their concerns.
