Great podcast that highlights the problems with Lucy’s trial from the perspective of someone who has been through a wrongful conviction herself. To those listeners who have claimed this podcast has overlooked the evidence against Lucy, listen again. If it seems lacking in the prosecution’s evidence it’s because there was very little evidence. I’ve done a lot of reading of on this case because it’s so compelling. All of the prosecution’s best evidence was presented here… (spoiler alert!!)…
the cherry-picked statistical demonstration that she was on shift during the deaths, the post it note that she wrote at the behest of her therapist to vent her feelings during the investigation where she writes a supposed confession, the one time she was seen in a room while a baby was collapsing, the refuted medical evidence that these very sick babies could only have collapsed due to intentional intervention (most importantly the skin rashes falsely attributed to air embolism and blood work that showed there could have been added insulin). This podcast goes through each claim and pokes big holes in each one. It’s all here, and that’s it. And that’s the problem: there was so little evidence in the first place.

I feel like I listened to a different podcast than those who said it’s only voices of wrongly convicted people, and nothing to do with the facts of the Letby case. In contrast, it was only the last episode that centered around wrongful convictions in general. The other 9 episodes went into incredible detail about the evidence that was presented, including medical evidence, statistical evidence, notes from Letby herself, etc. I love Amanda‘s voice throughout and hearing her unique spin; she did a great job analyzing and encouraging review from a different lens.

This story is fascinating and I’m glad there is a deeper dive into this case. Amanda Knox is doing a great job and looking into the facts we haven’t previously heard about. Of course she can compare this to her case and the injustice that was done. Isn’t she the perfect person to understand what Lucy is going through?
Great podcast. My only complaint would be the frequent ads that are quite annoying.

This podcast holds no candle to the work of The Crime Desk’s Letby coverage. You do not need an American who was falsely accused of murder in Italy to provide amateur commentary on a trial in the UK - a country she has never lived in and who doesn’t care for her to begin with. This is just a foolish take on the case interviewing exclusively Conspiracy Theorist Letby supporters.

As expected, she wastes no time trying to latch herself to the case on the basis of her own experiences facing accusations in a different country. What follows is 38 minutes of shameless self promotion and exaggeration with writing more in line with a high school newspaper than a professional.

Knox holds no relevant expertise and her commentary is unnecessary. Some examples:

She considers Letby “attractive” which holds no weight in the discussion, as killers have been both attractive and unattractive.

She claims the evidence doesn’t stack up - but has no qualifications needed to reach that conclusion.

She exaggerates the significance of this case in the British consciousness, implying that the day of the verdicts “Britain stopped” when this was not the monumental nation stopping news suggested (which would be more reflective of Lord Mandelson’s arrest and Andrew MountbattenWindsor having been stripped of his titles and arrested)

She interviews know conspiracy theorists like Phil Hammond, a man with no credibility who whines on social media and in documentaries while spreading misinformation.

She neglects to mention that he writes for Private Eye: a satirical rag which infamously co-signed the false signs of anti vaccine propaganda against MMR vaccines and which has a terrible record when it comes to factual science.

The stakes feel personal for her yet she makes no effort to seek out actual facts on the case.

She makes no references to the facts of the case and instead talks about herself more than the actual facts of the case. She also claims the prosecution had 7 experts - when they had 8. And neglects to mention that Letby had experts who backed the prosecution defense.

There is no challenging Hammond’s lies - including the expertise and practicing status of Dr Sandie Bohin who was still practicing until 2025. Only blind, mindless praise for him and disgraced journalist John Sweeney - who was fired from the BBC - and mindless fool Peter Hitchens, whose takes are as idiotic as they are offensive.

Then there’s Richard Gill, a man who was spreading misinformation about the trial to the point of receiving an official warning of being in contempt and who doesn’t believe nurse serial killers exist.

Skip this podcast, it is a complete waste of time.
