I really wanted to like 10 to Life because the cases themselves are genuinely gripping and well chosen. The stories have all the ingredients to be compelling, emotional, and thought-provoking.
Unfortunately, the narration consistently pulls me out of the experience. The delivery feels flat and underdeveloped, and there are moments where important details are glossed over or explained casually in a way that feels dismissive of the story’s weight. In one episode, the host introduces a term and openly says she doesn’t even know what it means which was jarring. It comes across as either a lack of preparation or an indication that the detail didn’t matter enough to research, and both undermine credibility.
True crime lives and dies by storytelling and depth. Here, the narration lacks urgency, emotional engagement, and polish, making it hard to stay immersed despite strong subject matter. With tighter research, more intentional language, and a more compelling delivery, this podcast could be excellent—but as it stands, the execution doesn’t do the stories justice.
