Honestly? OBSESSED. Listening to my two fav sisters yap feels like a cozy FaceTime. They’re equal parts hilarious, unhinged, and totally relatable.
I look forward to The Toast every day and I miss them when they’re on break! I listen every night before bed. They’re hilarious, but comforting too!
I love this podcast so much! It’s so fun and feels like I’m hanging out with girlfriends. I have a long commute to work and back home and this helps so much! I never miss an episode and I’m a full fledge Toaster.
These girls make you feel like you are just catching up with your friends. Love that we get a peep into most areas of their lives with swirly pop culture content. I’ve LOLed while alone in my office and on my walks just from listening! 💜
I listened for about a year religiously, but the election episode was my last. The tone-deaf approach taken was not only disappointing but a stark reminder of the privilege being flaunted by Claudia and Jackie, while so many are, and will, face real suffering based on the election’s outcome. I know their response to this take would be, “get over it this is how democracy works”, or something else as equally shortsighted. They prattle on about critical thinking without ever looking within or rather, zooming out to any other issue that doesn’t apply to them directly. I can’t continue supporting something so flippant about matters of such deep significance. Grossly out of touch. Don’t love ya, bye.
I used to love The Toast, but lately, it’s been hard to listen without ending up in a bad mood. Instead of the fun, lighthearted banter that used to make this podcast so enjoyable, there’s so much negativity and constant lecturing. We’re already fans if we’re tuning in, so it feels off-putting to be spoken down to. Claudia tries to keep things positive, but Jackie’s cynicism really affects the tone and makes it feel like she resents the listeners—painful considering the support many of us have shown them through thick and thin. There’s this lingering bitterness from their past cancellation, and it feels misplaced to take that out on their loyal fans. They’re quick to criticize people in the media for being vulnerable or relatable, as if only a polished ‘fantasy’ version of celebrities is worth acknowledging. But many of us who listen to The Toast are here because we’re able to look past what’s conventionally ‘perfect’ in the media. We support them despite the fact that they aren’t these traditionally glamorous figures—they’re relatable in a way that stands out from the usual media mold. So, it’s frustrating to hear them criticize others in the media who share those same real traits, especially when many listeners just want authenticity. I hope they can get back to what made them special in the first place—connecting, not dividing.
