Hey Gehls, Day 1 millennial giggler, here. Really disappointed that as lifelong New Yorkers, Paige and Hannah made no mention in today’s episode to the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I get that we are all already sad, and don’t want to cry all day, but an acknowledgment or a moment of silence before jumping into the episode would have gone a long way. I checked IG and noticed both girls are only posting fashion week content. Again, I know we need giggles & levity and it’s more of a comedy and pop culture pod, but choosing not to address what is a very painful day for many ‘gigglers,’ especially those of us from the city and surrounding metro area, who lost members of our community, friends, or relatives is a choice.
I love their banter and genuinely enjoy their friendship. That said, they’ve been giving “pro-patriarchy, but too young to recognize it” since the early episodes. Hannah judging Chrissy Teigen for publicly documenting her pregnancy loss, followed by the comment about a woman using a surrogate not being a “real mom,” were pretty revealing. And Paige, at least at that point, seemed more comfortable going along with it than challenging it. Fast-forward to today: Paige works with Amazon and does Abercrombie ads. Hannah’s platform is built around talking about herself—which, fine, girl, get your bag. But there’s a difference between being outspoken about men on a podcast and actually challenging the systems that benefit you. Being sassy toward men ≠ being pro-woman. And Hannah, I’m not judging you for marrying someone your dad’s age. Do what makes you happy. But you can’t simultaneously embrace traditional power structures when they benefit you and then position yourself as some kind of anti-patriarchy icon because you roast men on a podcast. That’s the part that feels performative to me. There’s a difference between individual empowerment and feminist politics. Cooking a meal, choosing your own relationship, or being financially successful can absolutely be empowering—but none of those things, by themselves, challenge patriarchy. You can’t just sprinkle feminism over a traditional power structure and call it dismantling the system. Put your money where your mouth is. Otherwise, you’re not challenging the patriarchy—you’re just learning how to climb it while making jokes about the men at the top. 😂 Also Paige saying she doesn’t put up with men who get a little too drunk and yell at woman… she dated Craig after MULTIPLE seasons of his getting hammered belittling and yelling and being abusive to women - Naomi especially. If he did that on camera what did you think he’d do behind closed doors? And you defended the man.
This show is like hanging out with my besties just gabbing and laughing, while also learning something new about documentaries or cuticles.
loveeee giggly squad. it’s the only podcast i really like watching the video too and it’s paying off… hannah wearing her glasses and using it as a comedic prop is making me LOL
I didn’t want to have to do this but after multiple attempts at contacting customer service with no/limited responses I feel this is necessary. I have been a huge fan of the show, and back in April my husband ordered me a sweatshirt which we never received. We have both emailed the address provided on the podcast’s Instagram as well as submitted help tickets on their website. It is incredibly disappointing with how this business is being ran. I guess I’m just out $70 for a sweatshirt I never received. I will continue to email customer service every day in hopes they can redeem themselves but at this point I’m not very optimistic.
Need more than one a week. Hilarious especially Paige with her zingers. I just wish they figured out how to time their ads better - for as big as their pod is they should legitimize their editing and format (literally check any other podcast as big as theirs and they have their ads timed perfectly and consistent) - the editing is pretty bad and makes it feel all over the place. Also yes please update the logo!
