How Did This Get Made?

by Earwolf and Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, Jason Mantzoukas

The award-winning comedy podcast that celebrates bad movies. Comedians and actors Paul Scheer (The League), June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie), and Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth) break down the very best of the worst films ever made—we’re talkin’ blockbuster flops, cheesy 80s action movies, Lifetime thrillers, obscure cult classics, and if we’re honest… most Nic Cage and Jason Statham movies. Plus, sometimes they’re even joined by hilarious guests like Seth Rogen, Conan O’Brien, Amy Schumer, Nicole Byer, Nick Kroll, and Charlize Theron. And the best part? They watch these bad movies so you don’t have to! New episodes every Friday. Classic episodes re-released every Tuesday.

What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

Y’all are so entertaining you’ve help me set PR after PR while running. I ran 6.5 miles with with a stroller listening to the Circus Island ep. Just a fun, niche podcast: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s like sitting with your favorite people and listening to them talk about a terrible movie. Always a great time. Thank you!

From Jan 29 2024. Fascinating and funny. The conversation beginning at 56:55 should be examined by PhDs and taught at Universities to demonstrate every possible way communication can break down. Everyone is talking past each other and June is assuming they boys have information they don’t. At 1:12:25 JM almost nails the question that needs to be asked of June, but does not receive a satisfactory answer. The question June must answer is, What would crediting multiple monkeys achieve that crediting one monkey does not?

Listening to “How Did This Get Made” is like discovering a secret society where bad movies are the gateway to pure joy. One minute I’m driving to work, the next I’m contemplating starting a book club dedicated to the novelization of “Kazam.” Thanks to Paul, June, and Jason, I’ve developed a habit of randomly shouting “What’s up, jerks!” in grocery stores, and I’ve never been happier. This podcast didn’t just spice up my life; it convinced me that watching “Cats” on repeat is a valid life choice. Five stars!

Maybe I started listening to this podcast expecting the wrong thing. I thought I was going to learn a lot of behind-the-scenes info from these well-known actors and comedians but instead 90% of their show is them laughing hysterically at their own jokes and talking over one another. That leaves a mere 10% of real substance. And June, bless, barely contributes anything but man does she try. She frequently starts sentences without a clear endpoint, and her two co-hosts allow her to ramble on for 30+ seconds sometimes, which is a long time to be waiting for a cohesive thought to form. If you’re the type who loves sitting with three incredibly stoned people who all think they’re the funniest person at the party, you’ll probably love this show. But if you, like me, came to this podcast thinking the hosts would actually answer the question How Did This Get Made?, you’ll be disappointed.
