Of course, the podcast will hopefully be of interest to lawyers and members of the public as well. Also, we love feedback. If you’re a stay at home mom/dad in Columbia County(and many are), do so at your own risk. Judge Padgett does NOT favor this type of marriage and instead will favor the income generating spouse. My ex husband and I were married for ten years and he made close to 200k a year. He cheated and lied, to me, and while on the stand. However, my total alimony award was 6k to be made in $200 monthly installments. I’d also like to add that we were dirt poor when we got married. Sacrifices were made on both ends to advance him in his career. We built this life together. Until I could find a job, I was literally living off Ritz crackers and random pantry items. No one could believe he didn’t have to pay more, especially after what he put me through. I needed, at the least, temporary support to help with utilities, groceries and gas until I could get a job and get regular paychecks. I hadn’t worked in years and no one was calling me for interviews. It was very stressful. All I’m saying is just because Judge Padgett can regurgitate some law text, doesn’t change the fact that his OPINION is what settles cases and his opinion doesn’t sync with the demographic or the values of Columbia County.
