It’s fine. The news is generally reported reliably, the takes are generally left leaning, the jokes are a very specific brand of humor (somewhere between millennial quirky and weird nerdy band kid) but keep the tone light hearted. The guests they manage to pull are an eclectic group, but they’re rarely a disappointment. You could do much, much worse in the world of political news podcasts. It’s also obnoxiously cringe to sit through at times. Katy is really the heart of the show and is desperately needed to keep the conversation going in the right direction, but isn’t a good enough off-the-cuff speaker to get the point across the first time. Cody generally has things down from the get go but as a host isn’t able to push Katy where they’re all trying to go, and is far too willing to go with the flow of conversation. Johnathan has the best researched and most coherent takes but is furthest from the humor of the show and thus is given a massive backseat by the format. If you let them all spin their wheels long enough you eventually get to solid conclusions, but there’s so much not listening to each other and awkward dancing around the subject to get there that it’s often not worth it. They obviously all fit their roles on their flagship YouTube show much better. It’s also worth mentioning imo that the show occasionally fails to meet the standards of modern leftist internet media, creating an odd dissonance with the way the show is presented. They absolutely deserve credit for being on the bleeding edge in 2019 or so, but as their brand of politics has grown more acceptable online, their personal quirks have become more apparent. In 2026 you don’t have to listen to people apologize 50 times an hour and make jokes that were barely funny in 2015 in order to get leftist politics, and on occasion they’ll seem to struggle as their own gut reactions don’t quite go as far left as their internet personas. They’re not quite stuck in the millennial era the way people you’d make fun of on TikTok are, but they’re still definitely of a slightly earlier generation.

Entertaining and great chemistry between the hosts. Love the running jokes and gags. I have never been so entertained by advertisement as this show. Sometimes the show is depressing though… not because of them, but because the country we live in.

I'm a huge fan of this show. After 8 years, it's still great. The editing (especially on Apple podcasts) seems to have gotten progressively worse though. So many jumps to commercial happening when Cody, Katy, or Jonathan are mid-sentence (sometimes mid-syllable). There's got to be a better way to insert ad breaks. I have no problem with yall getting paid, but can you do it without cutting off your hosts?
