What listeners say

A curated, balanced selection of Apple Podcasts reviews.

This story is important and deserves to be told, but it eventually becomes clear that the podcaster has a strong anti-abortion stance, which leaves her credibility in some doubt. She strongly criticizes the media for a lack of interest in this story, due, she says, to their pro-choice views, but she herself brings an obvious bias to the story, evidenced late in the podcast. A quick search shows that the podcaster is a renowned right wing journalist, so the perceived bias is not imagined. This story is very loaded, but a responsible journalist would have been more impartial. The facts of the story speak loudly enough for themselves.

Regardless of your views on abortion, this podcast is worth listening to. It just goes to show you why rules, regulations and people who will not turn a blind eye need to be in place for something as serious as this. Gosnell was a monster that took advantage of people who were already vulnerable but he did not act alone. There are many other people that played a part in the murders of these babies as well as traumatizing the mothers for life. Politics aside, these are human beings being talked about in this podcast, and they deserve for this story to be told, to raise awareness, educate and hope this never happens again.

The description didn’t feel like it was an accurate preview to the content. It would have been helpful to know abortion was going to be a main focus and a trigger warning would have been helpful in every episode (not just episode 4). With that said, this story was interesting and felt like something everyone should know about regardless of their stance on abortion.

I started listening to this and the story is horrific. It started out feeling like it was fact based reporting of a supposed controversial issue. I’m not real sure what’s controversial about what Gosnell did as it’s so outside the standards of practice you couldn’t possibly report anything he did was the norm or compare him with doctors who work within the legal parameters their jobs require. Gosnell is a murderer who disguised himself as a doctor. The authorities failed to do anything about it for decades and minority women paid the price. So instead of keeping to the facts of the case, the creator decided to slowly spin this into a piece of pro-life propaganda. By the last couple episodes, it’s obvious the slant is in. And the bonus episode was so insanely one sided that I needed to look up the neonatologist and quickly saw she is heavily involved in the pro-life movement. In the episode, she basically said if you terminate a pregnancy because you are told the fetus is unviable, then you are wrong because you shouldn’t trust what your doctor is telling you. I came to this podcast to listen to the story about a crime not for the debate on abortion. I can’t imagine anyone would say what this man did was acceptable.

Started out interesting enough, then not so subtly became anti-abortion propaganda. The journalist at times captured some of the nuance of how racism, classism, politics in the US allowed this serial killer to be so prolific, but ultimately got heavy handed with her assertions and lost the plot.
