I LOVE Portlandia, have gone to live shows, but the podcast reminds me of the SNL shwetty balls sketch because it’s all at one tone. I really want to love this podcast and maybe they’re finding their legs but it’s a bit monotone and boring. I will continue to listen and this isn’t a hate post.

I am really enjoying this podcast. I like that it’s really just honest conversations between Fred and Carrie and they aren’t trying to be silly just because it’s a podcast based on a comedy show. Feels very natural. And to the person who said it’s “just them repeating what happened on the episode,” you gotta be joking. are you literally just fast forwarding over all of the parts where the provide detailed context behind the inspiration of the sketches?

I was looking forward to this podcast, as I certainly enjoyed the show. It has some (admittedly, not many) interesting moments but they get lost among the repetitive conversation. The two get stuck on something and drive it into the ground, circling the drain with the same comments in different iterations. I really mean it when I say this show could be massively improved by an editor who cuts down those long, repetitious stretches. Even when they wrap up the show, it seems to take them about 12 minutes on average to actually say goodbye. I’m frankly baffled by the lack of concision. I share these notes in the hopes that they’ll actually work to improve these issues. There could be something good here but they haven’t found it yet.
