Honestly even though they get some details wrong they’re so funny that it doesn’t even matter. I’m only through part of season 2 but I’m obsessed with their little bits about Mr. Bates saying “you bastard” and Sir Richard growling. It’s a great companion for my current rewatch. (Edit: 1/11/25) I finished the Downton episodes and moved on to listen to the talk The Crown + even tried out Poldark. Come for the love of Bates and Grantham, stay for the wrestling allusions + inside jokes.

These guys take a serious, soapy series (which I adore, by the way!) and respectfully poke fun, all the while giving us a plot summary, character analysis and a great reminder of all the things we love about the Crawley! UPDATE - Dec 2022 I started listening with Downton, and continued on and off depending on the shows they reviewed. In this week’s pod, they briefly mentioned Only Murders In The Building - please, please review this show! I need a reason to re-watch with these guys!! UPDATE - Aug 2023 I realize that podcasting is a side gig/passion for our hosts, so they don’t always have the time to watch some of the series in real time. How I wish they had reviewed Belgravia when it first aired! I watched that show live, in real time and thought it was just meh, too long, soapy (not in a good way). I don’t think I have it in me to rewatch (and then listen to 6 hours of the pod after the fact) just so I can listen to Dave and Cory’s take on the series. Would love to know if they agree with me, not Julian Fellowes, best by a long shot. UPDATE - Dec 2025 I suffered through The Buccaneers in real time back in the summer, and could not wait to hear Dave and Cory’s review. I feel so vindicated after watching all the “bad Nan behavior” that these guys called her out.

I enjoy this podcast even more than the official HBO podcast. The hosts are funny, relatable and knowledgeable. Recommend to all period drama fans.

Listened to GA3. These guys focus on plot and character and have almost nothing to say about costumes, sets and production - you can listen to the official podcast for that stuff. A little more historical knowledge would help but overall it’s very entertaining.
