What begins as a simple search, quickly unravels into bizarre, unexpected adventures, as Reed uses unconventional methods to track down his namesakes and find common ground in the most unlikely places. Among the 751 Jacob Reeds he's discovered, Season 1 introduces the audience to a porn star, a teacher, a jazz drummer, an Italian impresario, a teenage crooner, and a waitress at a greasy spoon who wants absolutely nothing to do with us. It’s been awhile since I’ve picked a podcast randomly off the Apple Podcasts homepage, and I’m so glad I picked this one. It’s the good-hearted, funny, clever energy I’ve needed right now. Kudos to Jacob Reed for an excellent idea well done that is making me laugh and teaching me, while also entertaining me.

I just finished the first two episodes and can’t wait for the third. Great story telling, and great ways to combine some humor with deeper and more thoughtful subjects.

I am a Type A, so most days I listen to the first podcasts in every section of the browse screen on Apple Podcasts. This is how I stumbled on Jacob Reed and Me. I have to admit, the premise sounded stupid, but the story telling is so strangely compelling that I think I will continue on. In the first episode, I was actually sad when things didn’t work out even though the chase was for someone who didn’t even exist. There is an interesting moral on the economic limits of creativity, as well. Worth the listen.
