Ghost Story - Podcast Rankings and reviews

First, I’m a producer and being pushed towards a show makes me resistant to engaging with it. Within seconds of playing the podcast I was transported to a study in London on a crisp fall day, listening to a “Ghost Story.” I was hooked. The Dancy family history, interwoven with the larger historical relevance is breathtaking and inspiring. Tristan’s and Annie’s reporting, and their openness to exploring alternative methods of research are fun and fascinating. Lastly, I owe the Dancy family a debt of gratitude for letting their story be dissected and shared with the world. This series gave me a much needed respite from the 2024 Presidential Election. Thank you 🙏

I am two episodes away from the finale, not counting the “burning questions answered” episode. I am dreading the end because I’m enjoying it so much I am afraid I won’t find another one as good as this in short order!

This story has captivated me. It’s perfect for spooky season if you’re also into investigative journalism/documentary. The author’s connection to it is also not only supremely unique in itself, it forces the story to be an examination of all of the characters’ potential motives, including the author himself. It’s not often a documentarian admits that along the way, and I appreciated that.

I was hooked with the intro ghost stories that brought this story up in the first place, and stayed for the deep dive into these real lives and events that may or may not be connected-overall a great mystery series.

Thoughtful, intriguing and tenderly done work, all well done! Binge listened to the whole thing every chance I got, and have shared this gem with everyone I know. Kudos to all involved, and many hugs to the family in navigating such a delicate journey through their own timeline.

I think shows that feature any kind of "true crime" elements can get exploitative quickly, but this feels like it honors someone who had their story erased and seems to be done very responsibly and with respect for those involved. So good.

It started off great but definitely fizzled quickly. Many 5 star comments talk about how this podcast honored the forgotten woman who was murdered. All fine and well, but is that the premise you expect from a podcast that’s called “ghost story?” She’s not even the ghost in question! It’s giving bait and switch- let me hook you with this ghost story then dive into my wife’s family drama. Yawn
